BEEUL Safety & Testing

What we tested, who tested it, what came back — and what the testing does not cover. Every figure on this page is also in the reports, and the reports are here in full.

What NPRA notification actually means

Cosmetics in Malaysia are not approved and they are not certified. They are notified to the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency, which issues a NOT number. The company declares the formulation, the safety assessment and the manufacturer, and takes legal responsibility for all three. NPRA can audit, test, and cancel a notification.

So a NOT number is not a gold star, and any brand telling you otherwise is overselling it. What it is: a traceable, cancellable registration tying a specific formula to a company that can be held to it — and one you can look up yourself, without asking us.

Why we paid for independent testing

Notification does not involve NPRA testing every batch, and “steroid-free” costs nothing to write on a label. Undeclared corticosteroids in creams sold for eczema are a real and documented problem in this region, and they are the single thing customers ask us to prove.

So in January 2026 we sent both Ease Me creams to SGS Malaysia, an independent testing laboratory, and paid for a screen for eight corticosteroids and a screen for four heavy metals. We did not commission the reports to put a badge on the site. We commissioned them so this page could exist.

Check it yourself, without asking us

  1. Take the NOT number

It is on the product page, on the packaging, and beside each report below.

  2. Open NPRA Quest

The regulator's own public database of notified cosmetic products. It is not ours and we cannot edit it.

  3. Search the number

You should see the product name, the notification holder and the status. If any of it disagrees with this site, trust NPRA and tell us.

  4. Read the reports below

Every page, at full size. The report number on each is the one SGS issued.

Transcribed from the report itself. The detection limit is the lowest concentration the method can reliably see — “not detected” means nothing was found down to that figure, which is not the same as a return of absolute zero. No laboratory can offer one.

What this does not cover

This is a screen for eight named corticosteroids, not for every steroid that exists, and for four heavy metals rather than all of them.

It is also a snapshot of the batch we submitted. It is evidence of what we make and how we make it — not a permanent certificate covering every batch we will ever produce.

The Baby cream is the same formulation as Adult at a lower botanical dose. We did not assume that meant it would test the same — we submitted it separately, on the same day, to the same scope. Same result: nothing detected.

BEEUL Gentle Body Wash 500ml

Notified with NPRA

Scope
NPRA notification only
NPRA/KKM Notified
NOT240804021K

The Gentle Body Wash is notified with NPRA and carries the NOT number above, which you can look up the same way as the creams.

What this does not cover

There is no SGS report for the body wash. When this site says SGS tested, it means the two Ease Me creams and nothing else.

We could have let the phrase drift across the whole range and most people would never have checked. Scoping it honestly is worth more to us than the extra half-sentence of marketing.

What a lab report cannot tell you

A clean report says a specific batch did not contain the things it was tested for. It does not say a product will suit your skin, and it is not a substitute for patch-testing or for medical advice.

Ease Me contains colloidal oatmeal and small amounts of lavender, peppermint and cape chamomile oils. The Gentle Body Wash contains tea tree oil. None of those are contaminants — they are there on purpose and they are on the label — but if you react to oats or to essential oils, a clean heavy-metals screen is not the reassurance you need. Patch-test first, or send us your list.

And if a rash is spreading, weeping or painful, or a baby is distressed by it, that is a doctor's job rather than a moisturiser's. Our returns exists because a product that passes every test can still be wrong for one person.

Question about a report?

Send it over. If it is something we have not tested for, we will say so rather than talk around it.
